Murfreesboro, TN - The Rutherford County Schools warn area residents that if they drive past Siegel High School around noon this Monday (8/5/2024), don't think a catastrophe is occuring. County School's Chief Communications Officer James Evans told WGNS, "It's a large scale school safety exercise that includes multiple law enforcement, emergency management and government agencies."

He explained, "We plan to simulate an active-shooter scenerio, and as part of the exercise, we will hold media updates on site. There will be a designated media staging area near the school, and after the event, all participating media outlets will be supplied with B-roll from the action inside the school."

Previous exercises proved to be extremely realistic with helicopters landing in an open area near the school, emergency vehicles rushing onto the campus with sirens blazing and more. It's all designed to give the feeling of authenticity.

Stay with WGNS for continuing updates on Monday's noon re-enactment at Siegel High School, just off West Thompson Lane.
