Murfreesboro, TN - Authorities have decommissioned Murfreesboro Police Officer Jonathan Fenoy following allegations of inappropriate use of force. The incident in question occurred in June, 2024 when police responded to a man’s workplace, where he was being fired. The man, Chris Zimmer, had a history of becoming violent, according to his supervisor.
Murfreesboro Police’ body camera footage revealed that officers quickly escalated the situation. Despite Zimmer having no weapons, they threw him to the floor, with Officer Fenoy placing his knee on Zimmer’s back. Fenoy’s aggressive language during the arrest has drawn scrutiny.
Zimmer, who has a traumatic brain injury, explained that his physical response was involuntary due to his condition. Authorities did not charge him with resisting arrest.
An internal investigation is ongoing, and Fenoy has been placed on desk duty. The Murfreesboro Police Department acted swiftly after reviewing the footage, removing Fenoy’s police powers.
