Domestic Violence Fight Over a Kitten Ends With One Arrest and Children Thinking Mom was Kidnapped

A domestic violence issue over the possession of a kitten led police to arrest one man in Murfreesboro. The 30-year old suspect allegedly went to the victims home to retrieve a kitten that he had recently given to his ex-girlfriend and her children. The police report shows the three minor children in the home told officers the subject kidnapped their mother after taking the cat.

When the suspect reportedly went to the home to get the cat, he allegedly “Busted through a bedroom door to get it (the kitten).” After getting the cat he threatened to burn down the home of his ex with her and the children still inside, according to the report. After the threat the ex-girlfriend told the man to give her the family car back. He refused and she jumped into the car to grab the keys.  The arrest report shows that he quickly drove away with the ex still in the car. The children evidently saw that as the kidnapping of their mother.

The suspect, who we will not identify because children were involved in this case, was charged with domestic assault, vandalism and two counts of violation of probation. The man is being held without bond in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He will appear in court on June 13, 2013.
