Fired La Vergne Police Chief Files Lawsuit Against City

Apr 17, 2024 at 04:28 pm by WGNS

La Vergne, TN – Ousted La Vergne Police Chief Burrel Davis filed suit (4/17/2024) against the City of La Vergne as a result of being fired as part of that municipality’s sex scandal at the police department.  Davis’ lawsuit is seeking for him to be reinstated to his position as chief and to receive all back pay.

As you recall from earlier broadcasts, Burrel “Chip” Davis was fired after failing to disclose any knowledge to La Vergne’s HR department about the five LPD officers who allegedly were involved sexually both on and off duty.

Davis was put on administrative leave in February, 2023 before being fired.

A third-party investigation determined that the former chief was aware of the sexual misconduct and allegedly never disciplined the officers nor reported it to city officials.

Not only was Davis seeking back-pay, the lawsuit also asked for trial by jury, compensation for damages of embarrassment, humiliation, stress, anxiety, inconvenience, and loss of enjoyment of life.

NewsRadio WGNS is monitoring closely any activities in the courts or with La Vergne city officials about this rapidly changing story.
