RutherfordCABLE Has People Laughing at Each Other - While Learning to Work Together

May 14, 2013 at 07:23 pm by Bryan Barrett

Internet Exclusive: RutherfordCABLE, a leading networking and professional development organization serving local business professionals, held its monthly breakfast meeting Tuesday, March 14, at Stones River Country Club.

The event, sponsored by First Tennessee, featured keynote speaker Dr. Deborah Tobey, a Nashville based expert in Organization Development and full time faculty member in Leadership and Organizations at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Tobey offered a fun, lighthearted perspective on a major “hot topic” in today’s workplace. Having worked in the OD field for more than 25 years, she addressed the generational differences we face today and provided a unique approach to handling those differences through various communication techniques.

Dr. Tobey’s remarks seemed to really get people talking. “It was enlightening to laugh at myself and see that as individuals from different generations we are not right or wrong, just different,” said Claudia Harris, RutherfordCABLE member and Marketing Director at Creekside Assisted Living in Murfreesboro. “When we learn to appreciate and understand our differences, we can then join together and accomplish great things together.”
