Murfreesboro, TN - More "Hero Awards" were given out at Saturday morning's Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast at MTSU's James Union Building. Murfreesboro Police Deartment Officer Michael Pendergrast was presented the Jerry Anderson Hero Award and Lieutenant Chris Williams was honored with the NAACP Humanitarian Award.
Pendergrast was recognized for proving lifesaving first aid to a stabbing victim. Williams was awarded for his humanitarian efforts through his The Power of 1 non-profit organization.
Williams founded One Power United Vocational Schools in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Rwanda. He also provided relief efforts during the Pandemic and provided schools supplies for local churches in Jamaica.
