So the question that begs to be asked… if you had a marijuana grow operation in your apartment, would you sign a consent form for Murfreesboro Police to search your residence?

Murfreesboro Police arrived at Vintage at the Park Apartments in the Barfield area and once at the door of unit 1610, say they smelled marijuana, according to the arrest report. 22-Year old Caitlyn Alexander and 25-year old Paul Shrader signed a consent form for the officer in question to search the apartment. After signing the form, several more officers showed up along with the Vice Unit.

With the permission of the tenants, the officers made their way inside where they wrote in a report that they found 8 large marijuana plants. The report went on to say, “In an upstairs loft several paraphernalia items were discovered such as grinders, pipes, electronic scales, rolling papers, marijuana grow books, sandwich baggies and some loose marijuana. All of the newly discovered items, including grow lamps, were seized as evidence.

Later in the day police interviewed Alexander and Shrader, “During the interviews both subjects acknowledged taking part in the marijuana grow to eventually profit off the product.” Needless to say, both suspects were apprehended and now face felony manufacturing charges of a schedule six drug and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. The duo will appear in court on July 3, 2013.
