Rutherford County, TN - Temps have stayed below the freezing point all day, so the snow and ice remain a part of our Southern lifestyle. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office reports vehicles sliding off streets, spinning and going nowhere while assaulting a hill, or simply slipping uncontrollably down a refrozen roadway.

And a special THANK YOU to the many officers who went the extra mile and came to the aide of motorists in distress. Also, thanks to SRO Jeremy Gregory and Sheriff's and Patrol Sgt. Nick Coble for documenting the caring work with photos.

Cars have gone down embankments and end upside down, an 18-wheeler jackknifed on icy roads and had to allow the big rig wreckers to remove it.

Murfreesboro City Schools as well as Rutherford County Schools have both decided to remain closed on Thursday (2/20/2025). Evening temps in the subfreezing range of 13 to 5 degrees for the next few evenings, will slow melts.

Good news though, Middle Tennessee will enjoy mid 50s by Sunday and near 60 on Monday. Have you had success with "snow angels," "snow men," or "snow ball fights"? Send WGNS your photos and show others how snow and Tennessee go hand-in-hand!
