BEDFORD COUNTY, TN - Just over the Rutherford County line and a short five minutes south of Rockvale, a woman was found dead, and her son has emerged as a suspect in her death. The investigation, initiated on Monday, centers around the circumstances leading to her demise.
The events began to unfolded when deputies from the Bedford County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check at a residence on Davis Lane in Unionville. Upon arrival, they made contact with 24-year-old Curtis Colten Edwards. After conversing with him, deputies discovered the lifeless body of a 58-year-old woman within the home.
Detectives have since confirmed that the deceased woman was indeed the mother of Edwards, who was present when authorities arrived. The Sheriff's Office, collaborating with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, is actively probing the case, and foul play is now suspected in the woman's death.
Consequently, authorities have charged Curtis Colten Edwards with Criminal Homicide in connection with his mother's death. Family members of the victim have been informed of the situation, and Edwards is currently being held without bond at the Bedford County Jail, where he was booked around 2:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon. As of Thursday evening at 4 p.m., he remains in custody without bond.
