PCA Boys Basketball Wins State Championship

(COOKEVILLE) - In a historic victory, the Providence Christian Academy (PCA) Lions clinched their first-ever state championship in boys' basketball by defeating Battle Ground Academy (BGA) 78-68 in the Division II Class A BlueCross Basketball State Championship game on Saturday (March 8), at the Hooper Eblen Center in Cookeville.

PCA's offense was led by several standout performances:

  • Aiden Bolden: 20 points, including 14-of-15 from the free-throw line, along with five rebounds and four assists.

  • Chris Washington Jr.: 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and seven rebounds.

  • Tryce Grensing: 17 points, a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, and five rebounds.

  • Baylor Allen: 10 points, shooting 3-of-5 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range.

The Lions set the tone early, leading 22-14 at the end of the first quarter. Although BGA narrowed the gap in the second quarter, PCA maintained a slim 29-28 advantage at halftime. The Lions extended their lead in the third quarter, entering the final period ahead 50-44, and secured the championship with a strong 28-point performance in the fourth quarter.

PCA's offense was efficient, shooting nearly 57% from the field and an impressive 70% from three-point range. They also excelled at the free-throw line, converting nearly 88% of their attempts.
