So what is the best way to get out of receiving a speeding ticket? One local resident evidently tried the old, “my house is getting broke into” line.
Murfreesboro Police pulled over James Anderson Miller on Tuesday for allegedly doing 43-miles per hour in a 30-mph zone. The police report shows that James told the officer, “To make a long story short, my house is getting broke into.” The officer instinctively asked, “Where do you live?” The officer quickly called dispatch to ask if any calls regarding a break-in had been made. The answer was “Negative.” Miller reportedly told police he found out about the burglary from his mom who lives in a neighboring apartment.
The officer asked Miller if he was lying about the break-in to get out of a ticket. Miller’s answer, “No, my mom called me and told me a couple of guys were breaking into my apartment.” Police went to the apartment and spoke to the mother. She, according to the report, told police she had no idea what her son was talking about.
After a brief investigation, Miller was charged with filing a false report. He will have to appear in court on July 22.
