HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (WGNS) - Local rising star Mattie Pruitt continues to captivate America, advancing to the Top 8 on American Idol after an emotional performance during Sunday night’s live show.
The 16-year-old from Eagleville delivered a powerful rendition of Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me,” earning high praise from the judges and overwhelming support from fans. Her raw emotion and poise on stage stood out in a night dedicated to songs by iconic women in music.
Pruitt, the youngest contestant remaining in the competition, now sets her sights on Monday night’s (May 5th) Top 7 round. This week’s theme is the “Judges’ Song Choice,” where each contestant receives three song options—one from each judge—without knowing who picked what. Contestants choose their song based on instinct, and the judges later reveal whose pick it was.
Voting will open at the start of the show and will remain open until the final commercial break. Viewers can vote up to 10 times per method using the American Idol website, the official app, or by text. At the end of the night, the top six based on votes will automatically advance. Of the remaining two contestants, the judges will have the power to save one—rounding out the Top 7.
Fans of Mattie Pruitt are encouraged to vote and help keep Eagleville’s hometown hero in the competition as she continues her remarkable run toward the finale.
