MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — On Thursday (April 24, 2025), fire crews from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) responded swiftly to a morning kitchen fire at a townhome unit on South Bilbro Avenue.

According to MFRD, the resident arrived home to discover flames coming from the stove area and immediately evacuated the building. Fortunately, no one else was inside the townhome at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, which was confined to the kitchen. However, smoke damage affected other areas of the home. Crews worked to ventilate the residence before clearing the scene.

Units responding to the incident included:

  • Ladder Companies: 1, 2, 4, and 8
  • Engine Companies: 3, 7, and 9
  • Rescue Units: 1 and 4
  • Safety Officers: 1 and 2
