RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Area voters will have some important decisions to make next year. In November 2026, during the governor’s election, residents will be able to vote either for or against three proposed amendments to the state constitution.
State Representative Robert Stevens from Smyrna says the goal is to give citizens a direct voice on important issues...The first two proposed amendments involve expanding rights for crime victims under "Marsy’s Law" and prohibiting the state from ever collecting a state property tax. Voters can either approve or reject these changes when they cast their ballots.
However, it’s the third amendment that is expected to draw the most attention. It focuses on denying bail for suspects arrested for serious or violent crimes against others…
