Murfreesboro, Tenn. – The Discovery Center at Murfree Spring was birthed as a dream to help area youth. Spark a love by supporting the 33rd Annual Secret Garden Party on Friday evening (June 6, 2025) at the home of Amanda and Sen. Shane Reeves at 1471 Avellino Circle in Murfreesboro. The community is then encouraged to visit area gardens on Saturday and Sunday (June 7-8) with the Secret Garden tours—all in support of the Discovery Center!
Since the Discovery Center opened March 3, 1987, a spark in the minds of area youth is lit daily. Every child who steps into the museum brings with them boundless curiosity and imagination. They’re discovering, exploring, and growing everyday skills that will shape who they become and the world they will one day lead. Yet, many of these experiences are only possible with the support of our dedicated community.
By supporting this year’s Secret Garden Party, along with the Secret Garden Tours on the following two day, YOU are inspiring the next generation of Discovery Center leaders by providing those “Aha!” moments for children as they are able to connect what they’re learning in the classroom to the real world.
The Secret Garden Tour runs from June 7-8. Step inside some of the area's most breathtaking private gardens. Whether you're a plant enthusiast, a home and garden lover, or just looking for a peaceful weekend stroll, this self-guided tour offers inspiration at every turn.
- Saturday, June 7 | 10 AM – 4 PM
- Sunday, June 8 | 1 PM – 4 PM
Presented in partnership with the Master Gardeners of Rutherford County.
Tickets to the Secret Garden Party are $125 per person, and sponsorships that include tickets are also available. Secret Garden Tours on Saturday and Sunday are $15 each.
Did you realize that the Children's Discovery Center was founded by a dream and a large group of supportive parents in 1986. That dream was lead and focused by Founding Director Billie Little. It was originally chartered as the Children's Museum Corporation of Rutherford County. The Discovery Center was moved to its current location at Murfree Spring in 2002.
