RUTHERFORD COUNTY,  TN - Severe storms swept through Rutherford County late Tuesday afternoon, bringing high winds, hail, and heavy rain that toppled trees, knocked down power lines, and left several roadways impassable. Emergency crews from multiple agencies worked rapidly to respond to calls across the area, though no injuries have been reported.

Around 5:30 p.m., the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) responded to a report of a large tree falling onto the roof of a second-story home on Kindness Way. Thankfully, the family inside the home was unharmed and no injuries were reported.

Elsewhere in the city, Florence Road was particularly hard-hit. A tree and cable line were reported down at the intersection with Valor Road, blocking outbound traffic heading toward Broad Street. Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) officers provided traffic control. A separate report noted a tree limb had fallen onto a car along the same road, though the driver left the scene before emergency crews arrived.

MFRD also tackled two fallen trees on Broad Street, where Ladder 4 crews quickly cleared debris to reopen the road. Flash flooding was reported in the area of Haley Road, which was declared impassable. The Murfreesboro Street Department dispatched crews with high water barrels while MPD remained on the scene to manage traffic.

In the county, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that despite the widespread damage, no injuries had been reported as of Tuesday evening. Trees fell on homes in several neighborhoods, including East and West Calgary, Blackman Road, Luge Court, Cannonwood Court, Redfield Drive, Chadwick Drive, and areas along Old Nashville Highway and Florence Road.

Downed power lines also posed a serious hazard. One main power line fell across the road at Lascassas Baptist Church on East Jefferson Pike, and others came down on Huntwood Drive, Polk Drive, and several sections of Old Nashville Highway. Emergency personnel are working to remove debris and restore access in affected areas.

To assist residents, Rutherford County has opened storm shelters in Rockvale, Walter Hill, Lascassas, and Kittrell. Officials urge drivers to avoid flooded roads and to report hazards as cleanup efforts continue into the evening.
