MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – A 21-year-old man is behind bars following a series of crimes that began with a burglary and ended in a crash after a high-speed chase that spanned multiple counties.

Tyler Hudson was arrested just before noon on Friday, May 23, on South Rutherford Boulevard after allegedly breaking into a Murfreesboro apartment, stealing a car, fleeing from police, and evading law enforcement at speeds topping 100 miles per hour.

Authorities say Hudson and another masked suspect broke into an apartment on Saint Andrews Drive on Thursday, May 22, stealing a gaming console and a purse containing car keys. The vehicle was reported stolen early Friday morning around 7:24 a.m.

Murfreesboro Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center analysts tracked the stolen car using license plate reader (LPR) technology and the vehicle’s onboard tracking system. An officer spotted the car on Veterans Parkway later that morning, but chose not to pursue when the driver sped away, citing safety concerns for the public.

The vehicle was later tracked into Cannon County, where deputies with the Cannon County Sheriff’s Department began a pursuit. The chase continued back into Rutherford County, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the car with spike strips, but Hudson managed to avoid them.

The pursuit ended when Hudson crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of John Bragg Highway and South Rutherford Boulevard, causing minor damage. He was arrested a short time later near Louise Street.

A female passenger, later identified as 18-year-old Myka Marable of Dickson, fled the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended by Murfreesboro police. Marable has been charged with evading arrest.

Hudson faces a list of charges, including aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, retaliation for past actions—specifically for targeting a witness who testified against him in a 2023 shooting case—and a parole violation issued by the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Additional charges from other agencies may follow.

Hudson is currently being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $147,500 bond for the new charges and without bond for the parole violation. He is scheduled to appear in Rutherford County General Sessions Court on July 14.
