Murfreesboro, TN - Three individuals escaped injury after a truck pulling a trailer caught fire on Interstate 840 westbound early Saturday morning (5/24/2025). The four-door pickup and its attached trailer were fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived.

Firefighters from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department’s Ladder 11, Rescue 11, and Engine 5 responded swiftly to the scene. All lanes were temporarily shut down as crews worked to extinguish the blaze in the black early morning hours.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over vehicle fires on highways. According to the National Fire Protection Association, highway vehicle fires remain a significant issue, with thousands reported annually. Data from the U.S. Fire Administration indicates that equipment failure and unintentional causes account for a large percentage of vehicle fires.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and no injuries were reported in the incident. Traffic resumed after firefighters successfully contained the flames.
