MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The 2025 Tennessee Valley Lineman Rodeo is set to electrify attendees with its annual opening ceremony on Friday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m., launching an exciting weekend that celebrates the best in the linework industry. Linemen from Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) will be among the teams competing for the gold at this year’s event… That was MTE Marketing Coordinator Amy Byers.
Held in rotating locations across the Tennessee Valley, this year’s event is in Murfreesboro... Byers told WGNS the event brings in top-tier lineworkers for a series of intense and highly skilled competitions. Events are divided into several categories, including apprentices, journeyman teams of three, individual linemen, and senior individuals aged 45 and up.
The Rodeo is more than a contest—it’s a showcase of dedication, discipline, and expertise in one of the most critical trades supporting our daily lives. Competitors are evaluated on their safety, technical skill, and efficiency—qualities that are fundamental to the essential work linemen perform every day.
In addition to the professional competition, the Tennessee Valley Lineman Rodeo fosters a sense of community. Families, friends, and industry supporters gather each year to cheer on participants and celebrate the camaraderie and pride that define this profession.
Adding to the fun will be a special kids zone, but make sure you bring the big kids too, because they may find a passion for their future career at the annual Lineman Rodeo…The Lineman Rodeo will be in Murfreesboro, near the I-24 / Medical Center Parkway interchange. Competition will get underway on Friday afternoon at 1:30pm at the Williamson Family Farm (3250 Wilkinson Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37219). The event is FREE to attend and fun to watch.
Eligibility to compete is reserved for employees of electric utilities that are members of TVPPA, Tennessee Job Training & Safety, or are TVA employees. Participants must also work within the seven states served by the Tennessee Valley Authority: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
As the Rodeo continues to grow in prestige, it remains a cherished tradition for the Tennessee Valley’s linemen—one that honors the past, highlights present-day excellence, and inspires future generations of electrical workers.
