MURFREESBORO, TN — While headlines often focus on the high-stakes work of law enforcement, it’s the everyday acts of kindness that truly define a community. Residents of Rutherford County are fortunate to have first responders who don’t just protect and serve—they go the extra mile to help when it matters most.
One such moment unfolded at Oaklands Park when Murfreesboro Police School Resource Officer (SRO) Cole Glass spotted a young boy struggling with his bicycle. The child, determined but frustrated, looked up and said, “The chain came off.” Without hesitation, Officer Glass stepped in, getting his hands dirty to fix the problem. A few quick adjustments later, the bike was ready to roll again, and the child’s face lit up with gratitude.
Glass, who also serves as one of Murfreesboro’s dedicated bike officers, exemplifies the spirit of service embraced by so many in local law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders across Rutherford County. Their daily dedication makes this a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Residents are encouraged to celebrate these unsung heroes by capturing and sharing moments of kindness with WGNS, highlighting the small yet powerful ways that officers and emergency personnel continue to uplift the community.
