MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – If you're an Elvis Presley fan looking for a unique summer adventure, a two to two-and-a-half-hour drive west from Rutherford County lands you right at the gates of Graceland in Memphis – and just in time for Elvis Week 2025.
Running August 8–16, the weeklong celebration draws fans from around the globe for live music, film screenings, guest panels, book signings, and the iconic Candlelight Vigil held on August 15. And yes – the lineup just got even bigger.
Newly announced guests include pop vocalist Carol Connors (of Teddy Bears and Rocky theme fame), and Ann Moses, former editor of Tiger Beat Magazine, who had a front-row seat to Elvis’ career highs. Also joining the festivities is Sandy Kawelo, dancer from Paradise, Hawaiian Style and former Presley family insider, sharing stories during Conversations on Elvis.
Other notable appearances include Linda and Charles Stone, who’ll recount personal memories of Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker, and Terry Mike Jeffrey, lending his talents to the Inspired by Elvis concert on August 16. For the full list of guests and events, check out ElvisWeek.com.
For book lovers, Graceland will host signings from Linda Thompson (A Little Thing Called Life) and Peter Guralnick, author of The Colonel and the King, Last Train to Memphis, and Careless Love.
A heartwarming new addition to this year’s schedule is the Junior Elvis Tribute Showcase, set for August 10 at The Guest House Theater. Young performers aged 10–17 will pay homage to the King — not as competitors, but as fans carrying the music forward. Submission details can be found at Graceland.com.
The week also includes the ever-popular Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, with 20 semifinalists already announced and more qualifying this summer.
Graceland’s nearby resort, The Guest House at Graceland, still has limited room availability and will offer free entertainment and shuttles throughout the week.
Whether you’re an Elvis diehard or just curious about the King’s legacy, this makes for an unforgettable summer day trip from Murfreesboro, Smyrna, or anywhere in Rutherford County. Just don’t forget your blue suede shoes.
