MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) — Another national restaurant chain has closed its doors in Murfreesboro:The Hooters on NW Broad Street becomes the latest casualty in a wave of permanent shutdowns tied to the company’s ongoing financial restructuring.
The closure follows Hooters' March 2025 Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and is part of a nationwide move to shutter more than 30 underperforming, company-owned locations. Restaurants in Memphis, Nashville, and other parts of the country have also closed as the brand transitions to a fully franchised model.
The Murfreesboro location had long been a recognizable spot for wings, sports, and casual dining. Its closure reflects broader challenges facing the restaurant industry, including rising food and labor costs, increased competition, and shifting customer preferences.
Hooters leadership has said it plans to emerge from bankruptcy in the coming months by selling its remaining company-owned restaurants to franchise operators.
The Broad Street building now sits vacant, joining a growing list of recently closed restaurant spaces across Rutherford County. It's currently unknown what new business might move in.
