MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Mychael Kisling, a former MTSU and Siegel High School student, always dreamed of joining the Navy’s elite Blue Angels after witnessing their aerobatic precision. That dream became reality on Friday (6/6/2025) as the alumni returned to campus with his flying partner U.S. Marines Maj. Josh Horman. They spoke about this weekend's Great Tennessee Air Show on Saturday and Sunday at the Smyrna Airport.
Kisling, an aviation electronics technician, and Horman, pilot of the Blue Angels’ C-130J “Fat Albert,” addressed a packed crowd at MTSU, sharing insights on teamwork and the behind-the-scenes effort that makes their performances possible.
Founded in 1946, the Blue Angels showcase military excellence through air shows nationwide. Kisling, a 2008 Siegel High graduate, reflected on his experience, emphasizing the camaraderie within the team. Horman, meanwhile, detailed the logistical challenges of transporting gear and personnel.
Their presentation also included discussions on MTSU’s aerospace programs and veteran services. Enthusiastic fans, including 9-year-old Oliver Moreira in a flight suit, eagerly engaged with the speakers.
The Blue Angels will perform at the Smyrna Airport on June 7-8. For event details, visit Great Tennessee Air Show or Blue Angels.
