Murfreesboro Native Nora Walsh Named AACT National Teacher of the Year

Murfreesboro, TN - Murfreesboro native Nora Goodman Walsh, daughter of Dr. Charles & Delia Goodman, has been honored as the 2025 High School Chemistry Teacher of the Year by the American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT).

Walsh, who attended Campus School K-6 and is a proud product of Rutherford County Schools, now teaches chemistry at FJ Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana. She was recognized for her innovative teaching methods, dedication to student success, and contributions to the chemistry education community.

AACT selects outstanding educators each year for this prestigious award, highlighting their excellence in chemistry instruction and commitment to supporting fellow teachers. As part of her recognition, Walsh will receive a $1,000 cash prize and a complimentary AACT membership renewal.

Beyond the classroom, Walsh is an AP Chemistry Mentor, an associate editor for Chemical Education Xchange, and a two-time finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). She actively engages in teacher learning networks on social media, sharing resources and strategies to help educators enhance their classrooms.
