MURFREESBORO POLICE/FIRE RESCUE PUBLIC INFORMATION DIRECTOR LARRY FLOWERS ON THE CRASH AND INVESTIGATION
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – Emergency response teams rushed to the Clark Boulevard area in Murfreesboro around 11:30AM on Tuesday (6/10/2025) after reports of a downed small aircraft. According to the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD), three individuals were on board the plane at the time of the crash and were transported to a nearby hospital. “All three people who were on board the small plane are listed in stable condition”. MPD confirmed. The aircraft was reportedly flying through the Murfreesboro area when it went down.
WGNS News spoke with Murfreesboro Municipal Airport Director Chad Gehrke who said, "The pilot radioed the airport and requested to land saying he was having problems. However, the plane went down in trees bordering Evergreen Cemetery."
Gehrke surmized that while approaching the airport, he passed over Evergreen Cemetery and saw the large green field. As he neared the airport, the problem must have worsened. so the pilot turned around and was attempting to land in the cemetery. The aircraft did not make it that far, and crashed into a heavy growth of trees bordering the cemetery on on one side and a row of doctors offices on Clark Blvd. was the other side of the tree line.
WGNS also confirmed that the aircraft was a Beechcraft Bonanza, a renowned single-engine aircraft known for performance, versatility, and spacious cabin.
Crews quickly secured the scene, and authorities confirmed that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is en route to begin a formal investigation into the cause of the crash. Police and city officials are urging residents to follow official social media channels for real-time updates.
At this time, the identities of the individuals on board have not been released. Further details, including the origin and destination of the flight, remain under investigation.
