Sat. (June 21, 2025) 10:00AM-4:00PM Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center (415 S. Academy St., Murfreesboro) invites the public to attend the City’s annual observation of Juneteenth. This festival commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America. On June 19, 1865, Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas and issued General Order No. 3, proclaiming the end of slavery in accordance with the Emancipation Proclamation. Though the Civil War had ended two months earlier, the news had not yet reached Texas, making Juneteenth a symbol of delayed freedom.
