MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Local author and business owner Stevie Michelle Kimbrough has released her debut children’s book, Ed the Zebra’s Wild Vacation, now available on Amazon. The book is based on a real-life zebra escape that drew widespread attention in Murfreesboro earlier this year.

Kimbrough, who owns a local daycare, wrote the book after witnessing the community’s fascination with the wayward zebra. The story captures the whimsical adventure of Ed, a zebra who briefly escapes captivity and embarks on a spirited journey through the Tennessee countryside.

“I wanted to create something fun and memorable for children, especially those who saw or heard about Ed’s adventure,” Kimbrough said in a recent social media post. “It’s a lighthearted reminder of the joy and wonder that can be found in everyday surprises.”

The book is tailored for readers ages 3 to 8 and features colorful illustrations that bring Ed’s escapades to life. Scenes include Ed strolling past barns, exploring fields, and racing alongside cars—all told with humor and warmth.

Ed the Zebra’s Wild Vacation is available in both paperback and Kindle formats. Kimbrough also announced that she will be participating in the Rutherford County Heritage Society’s Author Showcase this August, where she will meet readers and sign copies of the book.
