Man Opens Fire at Murfreesboro Bar, Injures One

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - A 48-year-old man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly opening fire inside a local bar, injuring a patron and causing property damage, according to Murfreesboro Police Department detectives. The suspect, identified as Ronnie Malone, was taken into custody while attempting to flee the scene on foot. Investigators say the incident occurred shortly before 1:00 a.m. on June 15 at MJ’s Pool Hall on NW Broad Street, where Malone had reportedly been removed by security following a disturbance involving a bartender.

Following his ejection, Malone allegedly retrieved a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the establishment. One male patron was struck in the leg and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and later released. The building also sustained damage, with a glass door shattered by gunfire.

Malone now faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Two counts of attempted first-degree murder
  • Two counts of aggravated assault
  • One count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
  • One count of employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony

He is currently being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $950,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit – Violent Crimes Division.
