DAVIDSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A Sunday afternoon collision at the intersection of Thompson Lane and Southlake Drive in Davidson County has claimed the life of a 47-year-old man from Watertown, Tennessee.

Authorities have identified the deceased as Jackson Hunter, a resident of Watertown, located just north of Murfreesboro in neighboring Wilson County. The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. and involved two vehicles: a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado and a Honda Accord.

According to the preliminary investigation by Metro Nashville Police, Hunter was traveling eastbound on Thompson Lane, which is also part of Briley Parkway, at a high rate of speed. He reportedly ran a red light and collided with the Honda Accord, which was entering the intersection on a green signal from Southlake Drive.

Tragically, Hunter was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Silverado. He died at the scene. Authorities noted there was no sign of impairment by the driver of the Honda, who, along with their passenger, was wearing a seatbelt. The Honda driver was unharmed, and the passenger sustained only minor abrasions.

As is standard in fatal crashes, toxicology tests will be performed on Hunter to determine if impairment may have been a contributing factor in the wreck.

The investigation remains ongoing.
