La Vergne - In a sweeping show of enforcement muscle, La Vergne Police Chief Christopher Moews (pronounced Mays) has intensified his department's efforts to drive down crime and dangerous driving in the city through the latest execution of Operation Safe Streets. The multi-agency blitz, conducted June 30, included support from the Tennessee Department of Correction – Probation and Parole, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Crack-Down on Crime - Chief Moews is making it clear: offenders will not find safe haven in La Vergne.

“This is what real public safety leadership looks like,” said Moews. “We are going after offenders aggressively, working shoulder to shoulder with our law enforcement partners. The message is simple—if you're bringing crime or chaos into our neighborhoods, we’re coming for you.”

Officers zeroed in on known offenders and crime hotspots, producing significant results aimed at both immediate impact and long-term deterrence.

Enforcement Highlights:

  • 27 attempts to serve outstanding warrants, with 8 suspects arrested
  • 51 total traffic stops, leading to:
  • 1 DUI arrest
  • 2 drug-related arrests
  • 4 arrests for driving on suspended or revoked licenses
  • 2 citations issued for unlicensed driving
  • 16 traffic citations
  • 40 traffic warnings issued

Operation Safe Streets will continue under Chief Moews’ directive throughout the summer, reinforcing the department’s unwavering stance on suppressing criminal activity and protecting every corner of the community.

As Moews asserted, “We’re not waiting for crime to come to us—we’re meeting it head-on. This is about restoring peace, protecting our streets, and making sure the people of La Vergne know their police department is working for them.”
