LA VERGNE, Tenn. – A series of law enforcement efforts over several days has led to multiple arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs, as La Vergne Police continue their summer mission to improve public safety and get narcotics off the streets.
The first of the two major incidents unfolded just after midnight on June 28, when La Vergne officers initiated a traffic stop on Murfreesboro Road. What began as a routine stop quickly escalated when two suspects fled the scene in a second vehicle. Officers later located the car and detained both individuals. A search revealed over 14 grams of methamphetamine, additional drugs concealed on a passenger, and six open beer containers. One suspect reportedly admitted to using meth and claimed ownership of the drugs.
Both individuals were charged with a range of offenses including felony drug possession, DUI-related violations, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Officers Gad, Jordan, Brewer, and others were commended for their swift response and investigation. Authorities described it as another example of the department’s ongoing efforts to disrupt drug activity in the community.
Just two days later, on Monday, June 30, La Vergne Police ramped up enforcement efforts once again during Operation Safe Streets, a collaborative initiative involving the Tennessee Department of Correction – Probation and Parole, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The operation focused on deterring criminal behavior and making city roads safer for drivers and pedestrians alike.
The results of the coordinated campaign were notable:
- Warrant arrest attempts: 27
- Warrant arrests made: 8
- DUI arrests: 1
- Drug-related arrests: 2
- Driving on suspended/revoked license arrests: 4
- No license citations: 2
- Citations issued from traffic stops: 16
- Warnings issued: 40
- Total traffic stops conducted: 51
“This operation highlights the strength of interagency cooperation and our collective commitment to public safety,” said La Vergne Police Chief Christopher Moews. “By working in close coordination with our state and county partners, we are able to take a proactive approach to crime and traffic enforcement while reassuring our community that we are here to protect and serve.”
Police say Operation Safe Streets will continue throughout the summer, with more enforcement planned to help reduce crime, promote safer driving, and improve overall quality of life in La Vergne and surrounding areas.
