Murfreesboro, TN - As summer heat rises, so does the need for blood—and Murfreesboro residents have a chance to help this Friday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rutherford County Health Department, 100 W. Burton Street. The American Red Cross continues to face a critical shortage, a situation worsened by lingering effects of the COVID pandemic and reduced summer donations.

This special drive offers a rare chance to donate in the heart of downtown. All donors will receive limited-edition Red Cross x goodr sunglasses—with a blood type sticker to personalize them—while supplies last. Type O blood is especially needed, but all types are welcome. Schedule an appointment at redcrossblood.org using sponsor code RUCOHealth, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Main Street Murfreesboro Executive Director Sarah Callender urges locals to give: “Please consider joining your downtown neighbors to help the Red Cross Blood Drive in our downtown!”

That’s why this Friday’s blood drive in downtown Murfreesboro is more than just a good deed—it’s a vital lifeline. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rutherford County Health Department, locals can roll up their sleeves and help stabilize a supply that’s still playing catch-up from years of strain. And yes, donors will walk away with a stylish pair of Red Cross x goodr sunglasses—complete with a blood type sticker to show off your lifesaving status.

With trauma cases rising in summer and fewer people donating, every pint counts. Type O blood is especially critical, but all types are needed. So if you’re eligible, consider making an appointment at redcrossblood.org using sponsor code RUCOHealth, or call 1-800-RED CROSS.

Let’s make Murfreesboro proud and turn this summer shortage into a season of giving.
