MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A Murfreesboro man is facing multiple charges after Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies say he broke into a guest house, caused about $50,000 in damages, and assaulted three deputies while resisting arrest.
Deputies responded Monday to a home on Vaughn Road, where they found Sean Elijah Plummer, 18, on the second-story balcony acting out of control, according to Deputy Danny Saing.
When deputies ordered Plummer to leave the house, he refused. Moments later, he returned to the balcony holding multiple antique items and began throwing them at deputies below.
Deputies Saing and Josh Keaney attempted to arrest Plummer, who resisted violently. During the struggle, Plummer bit Deputy Keaney on the arm, Saing reported. Sgt. Nick Coble said Plummer continued throwing items from the second story as deputies worked to bring him under control.
Deputies eventually arrested Plummer and transported him to jail. He now faces charges of aggravated burglary, vandalism between $10,000 and $60,000, three counts of felony assault on a first responder, and resisting arrest.
Deputy Brad Lynn reported that the homeowner estimated the damage at around $50,000, including ripped-up carpet, broken antiques, a carved wooden chain burned on the stove, and shattered glass scattered throughout the house and yard.
Plummer is being held on a $51,000 bond. A hearing is set for August 25 in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.
