MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — You may have an exciting day filled with a trove of money! Festivalgoers at this year’s Berry Festival in Murfreesboro may discover more than fresh berries and local fun — they could find a few hundred or even thousands of dollars in unclaimed cash waiting for them. The 2nd Annual Berry Festival on June 19th takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hop Springs, located at 6790 John Bragg Highway.
The Tennessee Department of Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division will have a booth at the festival on Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., helping Middle Tennesseans search for and claim missing money. At previous events, many residents have found unexpected funds through this free service.
There’s currently more than $193.3 million in unclaimed property waiting to be reunited with residents across Rutherford County and its eight surrounding counties. The breakdown includes:
- Rutherford County: $22,892,376 (Total Unclaimed)
- Davidson County: $122,307,246 (Total Unclaimed)
- Williamson County: $22,931,944 (Total Unclaimed)
- Wilson County: $10,430,562 (Total Unclaimed)
- Maury County: $7,072,855 (Total Unclaimed)
- Coffee County: $3,924,623 (Total Unclaimed)
- Bedford County: $3,063,724 (Total Unclaimed)
- Cannon County: $709,571 (Total Unclaimed)
Unclaimed property includes money turned over to the state by businesses and organizations that couldn’t locate the rightful owner — such as forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, or utility deposits. There’s no deadline or fee to claim your funds; they remain available to the owner or legal heirs indefinitely.
Berry Festival attendees can stop by the Unclaimed Property booth to search their names at ClaimItTN.gov on-site. If they find something, staff will help start the claim process and answer questions right there at the festival.
To check for missing money anytime, Tennesseans can visit ClaimItTN.gov. It's as simple as filing out the state form, once it's determined that you have awaiting dollars, and then checking your mailbox for the big bucks to arrive!
Again, the 2nd Annual Berry Festival will be on July 19, 2025. It takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hop Springs, located at 6790 John Bragg Highway in Murfreesboro, TN.
