Murfreesboro, TN - In a momentous continuation of Tennessee’s growing spiritual movement, the Rutherford County Courthouse will host a solemn Pray4TN gathering at 2:00 o'clock this coming Wednesday afternoon (7/16/2025). Local residents, church congregations, and elected officials are invited to unite in an afternoon of prayer, fasting, and repentance.

This event is part of the month-long Pray4TN initiative, born from House Joint Resolution 803 in 2024 and renewed this year through HJR 51. The effort, led by Rep. Monty Fritts and Sen. Mark Pody, gained formal endorsement from Governor Bill Lee on May 2, 2025, calling on all 95 counties to host prayer assemblies throughout July.

A spiritual response to social challenges, Rutherford County's Commissioner and Chaplain Romel McMurry, emphasized the transformative power of prayer.

“Prayer is a powerful conversation between us and God... I truly believe our world would begin to change for the better.”

Rep. Mike Sparks echoed this sentiment, pointing to pressing issues such as fentanyl abuse, addiction, fatherlessness, and crime:

“Many of these issues are heart issues—No politician or legislation can repair that.”

What to Expect on July 16:

  • Worship and scripture reading
  • Focused prayer for Murfreesboro families, schools, and leaders
  • Encouragement for attendees to fast and seek divine guidance

Last year’s local gatherings sowed the seeds of what many are calling a spiritual awakening across Tennessee. With hundreds expected to attend, organizers hope the Rutherford County assembly will be a beacon of hope and unity—reaffirming Murfreesboro’s place in a historic statewide movement.
