Rutherford County Man Linked to Drug Trafficking Arrested in Warren County

McMinnville, TN — A Rutherford County convicted sex offender was arrested Thursday (7/10/2025) after allegedly attempting to deliver a large quantity of fentanyl to McMinnville, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies received a tip about the suspect’s travel plans and initiated a traffic stop after spotting the vehicle. The driver, identified as Robert Gordon Johnson, was taken into custody following a search that uncovered fentanyl and LSD, authorities said. He is now facing multiple charges (scroll down to read charges). The 32-year-old remains behind bars at this time.

Earlier that same day, authorities arrested Curtis Michael Turner of McMinnville. Evidently, in his case, law enforcement obtained a search warrant after receiving credible information that he was in possession of several illegal drugs. Officers served the warrant and searched the residence where Turner was known to be living. The confiscated list of drugs included methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, and lorazepam. Mr. Turner was arrested without incident and transported to the Warren County Jail. The 53-year-old has since been released on bond (Scroll down to read charges).

  • Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance
  • Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
  • Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Violation of the Sex Offender Registration

Turner Faces the Following Charges: 

  • Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
  • Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

“These arrests are a result of ongoing and strong collaboration between local law enforcement agencies to keep dangerous drugs out of our community,” said Sheriff Jackie D. Matheny, Jr.

Again, both Johnson and Turner were booked into the Warren County Regional Jail. One day later, Turner was released on bond, while Johnson remained behind bars, as of Saturday evening. 

Full Release from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office: On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the McMinnville City Police Department conducted a joint investigation resulting in the arrest of Curtis Michael Turner of McMinnville, TN. Officers received information that Mr. Turner was in possession of illegal controlled substances. They obtained a search warrant and served it at the residence where Mr. Turner resides. The search resulted in the confiscation of methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana and lorazepam. Mr. Turner was arrested without incident and transported to the Warren County Jail where he is being held on Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Later, on this same day, these same officers received information that Robert Gordon Johnson, a convicted sex-offender from Rutherford County, was enroute to McMinnville to deliver a significant amount of fentanyl. Officers made contact with the vehicle that Mr. Johnson was driving. A search was performed and Mr. Johnson was in possession of fentanyl and LSD. Mr. Johnson was arrested for Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Violation of the Sex Offender Registration.
