Investigators are still requesting dash cam footage from drivers on I-24 between 7 and 8 a.m., spanning from the I-840 entrance to Bell Road. The family is offering a $2,000 reward for credible tips, and Crime Stoppers may add up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - UPDATED: Dash cam footage is being requested by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues into the murder of a young man who was killed on Interstate 24. Noah Taylor was driving this past Saturday (July 12, 2025) when someone opened fire on the Smyrna resident. The murder happened near the Waldron Road interchange. Learn more about Noah HERE.
As Noah’s family copes with the tragically unexpected loss, authorities are working to determine why someone opened fire. Shawn Leonard, Noah’s stepbrother, wrote, “This feels unreal and heartbreaking.” Detectives with the sheriff’s office believe that dash cam footage from motorists on I-24 who were in the immediate area of the shooting on Saturday could be a crucial piece of the puzzle. Detective Thomas Burnett said, “We’re interested in information and dash cams from Interstate 840 to the Bell Road exit between 7 and 8 a.m.” One family member, Jordyn Kooshner, said, “We don’t know if Noah was the intended target. We don’t know if this was road rage or something else. We just need help.”
As Noah was driving down I-24 on Saturday morning, an unknown subject is believed to have taken aim and fired at the 22-year-old for unknown reasons. That fatal shot occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office. On Sunday, Noah’s stepbrother wrote on social media, “Please keep our family in your thoughts as we try to make sense of this loss.”
Rachel Jacob, who is Noah’s aunt, helped organize a fundraiser to cover the costs that come with such an unexpected death. Rachel commented on the fundraising page that Noah had just celebrated his 22nd birthday last month and had his whole life in front of him. She said, “…instead of planning for his future, we are faced with the painful reality of planning a funeral.”
So far, there has been no indication as to who killed Noah, but dash cam footage directly before or immediately after the shooting could lead detectives to the suspect’s vehicle, assuming the shooter fired from a vehicle driving near Noah. “Dash cam footage would be advantageous,” Detective Burnett said in a press release on Sunday.
YOU CAN HELP: Drivers who have videos or other information may contact Detective Burnett at 615-904-3052. Motorists can also remain anonymous by calling CrimeStoppers at 615-893-7867. Currently, CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person who killed the young man. Noah’s family is offering another $2,000 in hopes that someone will come forward with details that lead to the suspect.
