MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — An off-duty Coffee County deputy was arrested over the weekend and now faces multiple charges following an altercation at McKnight Park.
According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance in the pool locker room at the sports complex around 2 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found several people restraining 32-year-old Miles White.
Police say White resisted arrest and fought with officers before he was eventually detained. He is now facing two counts of assault on an officer, along with charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed White was employed as a deputy but has since been terminated following the arrest.
“The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office holds all of its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards. Law enforcement officers must be accountable for their actions, on and off duty. We are committed to transparency and will cooperate fully with the investigation being conducted by the appropriate authorities in Rutherford County,” the agency said in a statement.
Sheriff Chad Partin also addressed the incident directly.
“Public trust is earned through accountability. We will not tolerate behavior that undermines the integrity of this office or the community we serve,” Partin said.
White, a resident of Estill Springs, was booked into the Rutherford County Detention Center on an $11,500 bond.
