SMYRNA, Tenn. (WGNS) – A gunman who opened fire inside Legacy Wine and Spirits on Lee Victory Parkway Tuesday afternoon was taken into custody after a tense four-hour standoff with law enforcement.
Officers from Smyrna PD, along with the Murfreesboro Police Department, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and La Vergne Police Department, swiftly secured the scene. The suspect, Renaudd Broaden, was taken into custody without further incident .
Broaden faces multiple charges:

Aggravated robbery

Three counts of aggravated assault

Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer

Felony theft of a firearm
Additional charges are pending, including felony vandalism, attempted arson, felony reckless endangerment, and others .
Remarkably, no officers or civilians were injured. Four individuals—three employees and a customer—escaped unharmed after the suspect began firing and barricaded himself inside the store for approximately four hours before surrendering.
The investigation is ongoing. Smyrna Police continue to process the crime scene and urge anyone with information to contact their department immediately.

Law enforcement received reports of a barricaded individual inside the liquor store around 1:50 PM, prompting an immediate and extensive emergency response. Following the suspect’s arrest, once inside the building, police discovered the suspect emptied propane tanks inside the business and Smyrna Fire was called to the scene.
