UPDATED: La Vergne, TN - Rutherford County authorities have arrested and charged two individuals in connection with the fatal road rage shooting that took the life of 22-year-old Smyrna resident Noah Taylor last Saturday on Interstate 24 near Waldron Road. Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh announced that 40-year-old LaTashia McGowan and 41-year-old Glenn Branson, both of Legacy Court in Smyrna, have been charged with second-degree murder in the suspected road rage incident. Detective Thomas Burnett led the investigation and filed the charges.
Victim Was Headed to Work When Shot - Taylor was en route to work Saturday (7/12/2025) morning when his vehicle was struck by gunfire. The attack caused his car to collide with other vehicles and veer off into a tree line. First responders from the Metro Nashville Police Department, LaVergne Police, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Nashville Fire Department discovered Taylor deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined that multiple rounds were fired from a dark-colored Infiniti SUV. Capt. Todd Sparks of the Criminal Investigations Division confirmed that Taylor did not know the suspects.
Swift Investigation Leads to Arrests - “Our detectives worked tirelessly to solve this murder,” Sheriff Fitzhugh said. “We are relieved to place these two dangerous individuals in custody. We’re extremely proud of our team who worked diligently and swiftly to resolve this case.”
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, along with its Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene unit, and patrol deputies, responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Special thanks were extended to Murfreesboro Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center for their support in helping bring the suspects to justice.
Glenn Branson is being held on a $1-million bond and LaTashia McGowan is being held on a $250,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Hearings are set for Sept. 23, 2025 in General Sessions Court.
