LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WGNS) - A stolen vehicle triggered a multi-agency response in La Vergne Thursday morning after the city’s License Plate Reader system detected a 2015 Nissan Frontier reported stolen. The alert came in around 10:16 AM, prompting officers to quickly saturate the area. The vehicle was located on West Nir Shreibman Boulevard, and officers began monitoring it from a safe distance while waiting for backup.
Once additional units were in place, a felony stop was attempted. However, the driver refused to stop and led officers on a short pursuit. Due to reckless driving and public safety concerns, the pursuit was quickly terminated.
Moments later, the suspect’s vehicle crashed at the intersection of Murfreesboro Road and Waldron Road. The stolen truck collided with another vehicle and was pushed into a guardrail by the force of the impact. In total, five vehicles were damaged in the crash.
The driver exited the wrecked vehicle and was immediately taken into custody by La Vergne Police. The passenger had to be extricated by La Vergne Fire Department personnel and was flown to a trauma center due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver, who already had outstanding warrants in Rutherford County, now faces multiple charges including:
-
Theft ($10,000–$60,000)
-
Driving on a Suspended License
-
Four counts of Reckless Endangerment
-
Evading Arrest with Risk of Death or Injury (involving a vehicle)
No other injuries were reported. Authorities commend the quick actions of both police and fire crews in safely resolving the incident and minimizing harm to the public.
