City "Traffic Forecast" in construction zones for Aug. 3-9

Murfreesboro, TN - Public schools open August 8, 2025, and that will create some challenges for motorists--especialy around construction zones. The weekly "construction area's impact on motorists" from the Murfreesboro Traffic Department is for August 3-9, 2025. 

 
 
 
 
City Construction Projects 

Joe B Jackson Pkwy at WB I-24 On-Ramp Improvement Work
 
Expected Lane Closure:  Monday, 4/21 through Monday, 9/8:  Contractor for a private development will be making I-24 ramp improvements.  EB and/or WB traffic on Joe B Jackson will be reduced from two lanes to one lane.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
 
Manson Pike/Burnt Knob Rd and Blackman Rd Intersection Improvement Work  
 
Expected Lane Closure:  Monday through Friday:  BE ALERT FOR NEW TRAFFIC PATTERNS City Contractor will be performing roadway widening work at the intersection.  There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. 
  
Manchester Pike between Red Mile and Pear Blossom    A contractor for a private development will be doing road improvements. Manchester Pike may be reduced to one lane with flagging operation from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Project start is 7/28 with a 1 month anticipated duration.
 
Town Creek Project    S Front Street fully closed from NW Broad Street to Hickerson Drive. Hickerson Dr, W Castle St, and S Front St to experience intermittent lane closures.

Expected Lane Closure:  Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM:  Contractor for Google Fiber will be installing fiber optic lines.  There will be lane closures and lane shifts.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. 
  
Annual City Street Paving, Roadway, and Miscellaneous Work
 
Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM:  City contractor will be performing construction work at the following streets:
  1. Manson Pike/Burnt Knob Rd and Blackman Rd (intersection improvement work)
  2. Elam Rd between Manchester Highway and I-24 Overpass
  3. S Rutherford Blvd between Bradyville Pike and Manchester Pike (sidewalk and curb repair)
  4. 3200 block or Bilbrey (drainage improvements)
  5. Sulphur Springs Rd in the area of Olin Taylor St (striping)
  6. Greenland Dr between Old Lascassas Rd and Champion Way (striping)
Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
 
TDOT Resurfacing Projects
 
RUTHERFORD COUNTY I-840    Resurfacing I-840 from Jefferson Pike (SR 266) to Wilson County Line. Nightly, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., There will be alternating lane closures on I-840 in both directions for final pavement marking and work on shoulders and roadway (MM 61 – 66).
 
RUTHERFORD COUNTY SR 2   The resurfacing on SR 2 (US-41) from Kensington Square Court to south of Cedar Grove Road. Daily, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., There will be temporary alternating lane closures (MM 1.8 – 6.78). Flagging operations will be in place and one lane will remain open at all times.
 
RUTHERFORD COUNTY SR 99    The grading, drainage, and construction of retaining walls, signals, and paving on SR 99 from Veterans Parkway to Cason Lane.
