La Vergne, TN - A heartwarming reunion unfolded in La Vergne after a family's cherished Golden Doodle was stolen from their yard late Friday night. What began as a nightmare around 9:00 PM quickly turned into a determined search, as La Vergne officers sprang into action following the family's urgent call. For them, this wasn’t just about a missing pet—it was the sudden disappearance of a beloved member of a local resident's household.

Acting swiftly and compassionately, patrol officers launched a full investigation, treating the theft with the seriousness it deserved. Thanks to dedicated teamwork and support from the Franklin Police Department, the suspect was found and taken into custody. Even more importantly, the Golden Doodle was located unharmed and safely returned home, bringing tears of relief and joy to the family.

Police officials say it’s moments like these that remind them why they serve—not only to protect the public from major crimes, but also to restore hope and happiness in the lives of everyday citizens. When someone loses a companion with four paws and a wagging tail, it’s never “just a case.”

For one La Vergne family, those ties meant everything. Their dog is home. Their hearts are full. And their faith in community is stronger than ever.

Authorities also used the opportunity to remind residents of the strong partnerships shared among law enforcement agencies throughout Rutherford County. And for those who want to connect more deeply with local officers, the upcoming National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, offers the perfect setting. The Murfreesboro event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Oaklands Park, 427 Roberts Street, while Smyrna’s takes place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smyrna Police Department on Enon Springs Road East. Both aim to strengthen ties between police and the community.
