23-Year Old Female Pedestrian Hit by Pickup Truck Passed Away

Update #2: Murfreesboro, TN - A 23-year-old woman was fatally struck Tuesday morning while crossing Old Fort Parkway in a marked, signaled crosswalk, according to Murfreesboro police. The crash happened around 11:23AM at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway. Responding officers administered first aid until Murfreesboro Fire Rescue and Rutherford County EMS arrived. The woman was later pronounced deceased at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Investigators from the Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) say an 18-year-old driver in a silver GMC pickup was attempting a left turn from Golf Lane onto Old Fort Parkway when the collision occurred. Police say surveillance footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation. As more information is available, WGNS will have it for you.

 

 

 

 

Update #1: 

Murfreesboro, TN - Murfreesboro Police report that the pedestrian hit around 11:30AM Tuesday (8/5/2025) morning has passed away. She was hit by a pickup truck while crossing the Old Fort Parkway at the New Salem Highway.  The City's FACT Team (Fatal Accident Crash Team) reports that the truck was exiting Golf Lane and turning left onto the Old Fort Parkway (toward town). The driver of the silver GMC pickup truck was taken to Ascension St. Thomas Hospital for observation.  Northbound Old Fort Parkway has now been reopened to traffic.

Murfreesboro, TN - Just before noon on Tuesday morning (8/5/2025), a female pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway. The condition of the woman is not known at this time, and all inbound lanes on Old Fort Parkway are closed. 

The accident occured on the roadway in front of Thornton's gas station.

This is a serious accident and the FACT Team (Fatal Accident Crash Team) is gathering evidence, making digital measurements, and interviewing witnesses.
