MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – A man wanted for aggravated assault and kidnapping was captured late Wednesday afternoon in Murfreesboro thanks to rapid coordination between law enforcement agencies and the use of advanced tracking technology.

Twenty-four year old Ahmed Gouda was located at an apartment complex on Hillwood Drive after Murfreesboro Police crime analysts used license plate reader (LPR) technology to track his whereabouts. Gouda, who was wanted by the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD), attempted to flee on foot when officers arrived.

However, Murfreesboro Police deployed drones and a K9 unit, which quickly located him hiding in a treeline near the apartment complex.

In addition to Gouda’s arrest, officers also detained a 21-year-old woman, also wanted by MJPD, at the scene.

Both individuals will be transferred to the custody of Mt. Juliet Police to face charges in their jurisdiction.
