REMINDER: Tonight is the night to be on the MURFREESBORO SQUARE! A free concert will take place this evening at 6:30 p.m. (08/08/25) as part of the ongoing Friday Night Live concert series — a summer tradition that brings music, magic, and community spirit to Murfreesboro’s historic square.
The event continues to draw visitors, longtime residents, music lovers, and even a few enthusiastic dancing goofballs (along with some amazingly good dancers too). With live music, great local dining options, and plenty of places to grab a drink, the square becomes the ultimate spot for a summer evening out.
Tonight’s featured performers, Rubiks Groove, will transport the crowd straight back to the nostalgic 1980s. Expect some of the best hits of the decade — depending on your age, they might just be “the soundtrack of your life.” Known for their high-energy shows, mixed with a little audience participation, only because some concertgoers can't help but to sing along, Rubiks Groove will bring the fun for everyone TONIGHT at 6:30 PM!
A BIG Thank you Main Street Murfreesboro for continuing the tunes that we all love!
PREVIOUS: There’s something special about Murfreesboro’s downtown square — and not just because it’s actually a square. With buildings on all four sides, it’s a rare gem in Middle Tennessee, especially when compared to neighboring towns where the “square” might be missing a side or two. That classic layout makes it the perfect spot for community gatherings, and this Friday night, it’ll be buzzing with energy.
TONIGHT, Friday - August 8, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Main Street Murfreesboro is hosting another installment of its beloved Friday Night Live concert series. A massive professional stage will be set up on the east side of the square, complete with top-tier sound and lighting. Locals will be out in full force, lawn chairs in tow, ready to enjoy an evening of music, laughter, and good company.
This week’s headliner is Rubiks Groove, a high-energy tribute band that’s all about the hits — from the 80s and 90s to today’s chart-toppers. Their shows are packed with wild costumes, quirky characters, and nostalgic video clips that keep the crowd dancing and smiling all night long.
Main Street Murfreesboro, the nonprofit behind the event, has been revitalizing the downtown area since 1985. They’ve worked hard to peel back the layers of aluminum siding and modern “updates” that once covered the original architecture, revealing the charm and craftsmanship of the past. Their mission isn’t just about restoration — it’s about celebration. And Friday Night Live is a big part of that.
With Rutherford County's population booming, many newcomers don’t even know the square exists. Events like this are the perfect introduction. So come early, grab dinner at one of the historic restaurants, and take a stroll around the historic courthouse. You might just discover your new favorite spot.
