Murfreesboro, TN - Middle Tennessee State University will celebrate 709 students during its summer commencement ceremony Saturday (8/9/2025) at the Murphy Center. The event begins at 9:00AM in Hale Arena and is open to the public.

For those watching from home, the ceremony will be livestreamed at mtsu.edu/live, on MTSU’s Facebook page, and broadcast on “True Blue TV” via local cable and online at mtsu.edu/TrueBlueTV.

This summer’s class includes 486 undergraduates and 223 graduate students, with 197 earning master’s degrees, five receiving education-specialist credentials, and 21 completing doctoral programs. Three students will also receive graduate certificates.

MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee will offer remarks, and history professor Suzanne Sutherland will deliver the keynote address. Sutherland, who recently served as Faculty Senate president, specializes in the Renaissance and Baroque periods and leads MTSU’s “Heart of Europe” study abroad program in Vienna and Prague.

Graduates from all university colleges — including Graduate Studies, Basic and Applied Sciences, Behavioral and Health Sciences, Business, Education, Liberal Arts, and University College — will be recognized.

Murfreesboro will once again be the proud setting for this milestone moment as students take the next step in their journey.
