Murfreesboro, TN - Murfreesboro police have identified the pedestrian killed last Tuesday (8/5/2025) morning as 23-year-old Kali Mills. Mills was struck by a pickup truck while crossing Old Fort Parkway in a marked and signaled crosswalk at the intersection with New Salem Highway.
Mills, a Murfreesboro resident, did not have life insurance. Her aunt, Alicia Modrall, has organized a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses. Donations can be made directly to Murfreesboro's Corner Stone Freewill Baptist Church, 3071 New Salem Highway.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene at 11:23AM and began administering first aid. Personnel from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services soon took over care and transported Mills to Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
According to the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT), the driver of the pickup truck was an 18-year-old male who was attempting to turn left onto Old Fort Parkway from Golf Lane when the collision occurred. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the area as part of their ongoing investigation.
Police have not announced any charges at this time, and the investigation remains active.
