Arrington, TN - Two people were in a single-vehicle crash into a metal utility pole early Sunday (8/10/2025) morning. An emergency signal from an iPhone in the car notified authorities. Arrington Fire-Rescue was dispatched to Franklin Pike (Highway 96) near Wilson Pike, just off I-840 near the Rutherford-Williamson County line.

First responders from Arrington Fire-Rescue found a heavily damaged vehicle that had collided with a metal utility pole. One person was trapped inside. Crews quickly stabilized the vehicle and used hydraulic cutters and spreaders to extricate that individual. There were two persons in the 4-door Volvo coupe, and both were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Middle Tennessee Electric responded to assess the damaged pole, while Arrington personnel cleared debris from the roadway. The rapid response, triggered by the iPhone’s crash detection feature, played a key role in ensuring timely medical attention and roadway safety.
