WILSON COUNTY, TN - More and more arrests are being made in the Middle Tennessee area with the use of license plate readers. In one example that unfolded this past Saturday afternoon in Wilson County, the Mt. Juliet Guardian Shield license plate readers alerted Mt. Juliet Police officers to a Ford Escape displaying a tag stolen just one day prior in Williamson County. The alert came as the vehicle exited the interstate onto Belinda Parkway.

Officers quickly located the SUV near Providence Trail, and when it pulled into Two Rivers Ford, they initiated a traffic stop. Moments later, the driver ran from the vehicle. Two officers gave chase, and the suspect was swiftly apprehended.

The 54-year-old Nashville man was found with crack cocaine, driving on a revoked license, and wanted out of three counties for multiple felony warrants. In Nashville, he was wanted for eight different charges related to shoplifting, mail theft, forgery, theft of property, and failure to appear. In Sumner County, he was wanted for 10 charges involving theft, mail theft, and criminal simulation. In Wilson County, he was wanted for shoplifting.

Mt. Juliet Police shared on a recent post, “While we may never know this man’s intentions in Mt. Juliet, we are grateful that our license plate readers alerted us to the stolen plate—leading to the capture of a suspect with a significant history of theft. This is yet another example of how advanced technology and the swift, strategic response of our officers help keep our community safe.”
